Ten years ago, Silver Fern MotorSport Charitable Trust was formed in the pursuit of providing young people from disadvantaged backgrounds with the opportunity to learn automotive skills and to support their pathways into employment.
The Trust was established by founders Ted Jarvis and Marie Person, bringing their knowledge, skills and passion of motorsport and community development.
In 2010, Foundation North (formally ASB Community Trust) provided the seed funding to launch the new programme, recognising it’s uniqueness and opportunity to support young people’s development in the automotive area.
As a new provider to the youth sector at the time, we were grateful to ASB Community Trust for its support that extended beyond funding. We were a part of a High Engagement Model that included capacity development support alongside 6 other providers. Capacity support provided by ASB Community Trust provided the Trust with a solid foundation to develop its policies, programme evaluation and project implementation design. These learnings have served us well as the Trust has developed and evolved.
We are proud to be celebrating our 10th year Anniversary of the Trust, and wish to thank our Funders, Community Partners, Suppliers, Board Members and all the young people we have had the pleasure of supporting in their journey.
We look forward to continuing our work in the community as we embrace the next decade, remaining committed to making a positive impact on young people’s lives.
