About Us

Silver Fern Motorsport Ltd was incorporated in August 2005 by founders Marie Person and Ted Jarvis, inspired by a dream to create an NZV8 Tier 1 Racing Team.

After significant fundraising efforts, Silver Fern MotorSport formed the Bartercard Racing Team following Bartercard New Zealand becoming Naming Rights Sponsor for the 2007/2008 NZV8 Championship Series.  Launch of the Bartercard Racing Team also aligned with the prestigious A1GP at Taupo and the first ever Hamilton Street Race, providing significant profile to the Team and its sponsors in its first year of competition.

A core goal of Silver Fern MotorSport is to support up-and-coming driver talent, providing opportunity to promising new drivers aspiring to compete in New Zealand's highest level of motorsport competition - the Tier 1 NZV8 Series.

Silver Fern MotorSport has a strong community focus, and enjoys active contact with V8 fans, both on and off the track, including participation in community events, charity promotions and fun-days.

Team Principals and founders of Silver Fern MotorSport are Marie Person and Ted Jarvis.

Marie Person manages all business operations related to the Team, and is passionate about motorsport and V8s. Marie has realized her dream to build a racing team from scratch alongside business partner Ted Jarvis. Marie holds a professional background in science research and fundraising for the health sector.

Ted Jarvis is the Team Manager, and deals with the day-to-day operations of the Team.  Ted is no stranger to circuit racing, and holds four National racing titles in 0-1600cc Touring Car Series.  Ted has competed in many endurance races, including twice at Bathurst, Benson & Hedges, Nissan Mobil and North Island Endurance races.  Ted holds a professional background in sales, marketing and business development, together with experience in property investment.
